Astrantias are one of the gardens most delightful perennials. This produces shallowly domed heads of made up of small, pin-like soft pink flowers, each dome being surrounded by a spiky ruff of soft pink bracts. The flowers are carried on upright, well-branched stems above a mound of mid-green leaves.
Easy to grow in a soil that does not dry out entirely in summer. Cut the flowers off once they go to seed if you don't want lots of seedlings in your borders.
