Bergenia ciliata 'Dumbo’
(Elephant ears)
A plant worth growing for the leaves alone, which are large, round, deep-green and hairy. Once the clusters of rather unremarkable pale pink flowers die, the leaves get bigger, standing up just like a baby elephant’s ears.

Hardy to -10 degrees and more, the leaves remain throughout the year with new ones replacing older leaves in spring. Remove old, brown leaves when they get to look too messy. Ideal for more sheltered spots as the new leaf growth might be damaged by late frosts.
