Delphinium 'Piccolo'
(Perennial larkspur)
This delphinium belongs to the Belladonna group of Delphiniums which means the rich blue flowers are spaced more widely on the upright stems giving the bloom a more airy feel. The plant is also shorter but still have deeply cut foliage at the base and up the sturdy flower stems.

Upright plant
A hardy perennial, this survives temperatures down to -10 degrees and more. The whole plant dies back in autumn and emerges again in spring. Remove old foliage in autumn to help prevent slugs from hiding. Slugs to like the fresh spring growth of Delphiniums. Preventions that I use to stop slugs include beer traps (they love real ale) and picking them off the plant (use gloves and feed them to any ducks you know!).
