Echinacea 'Aloha'
(Coneflower)
The lovely buttery yellow flowers form dense frills around burnt orange centres. Flat initially as the flower ages the centres raise up into a dome encouraging even more butterflies and bees to feast. Carried on stiff stems with mid-green leaves.

Upright plant
A hardy perennial, this survives temperatures down to -10 degrees or more. The leaves die back in autumn and emerge again in spring. Cut back old foliage before the new leaves start to grow. Echinacea can be rather temperamental garden plants, often not returning the following season. Why? I'm unsure, but I've found removing old flowers helps to increase longevity, and although they like a well-drained soil, they don't like it too dry.
