Eryngium alpinum 'Donard'

(Sea holly)
Eryngium alpinum 'Donard'
  • Sorry-no-picture
The flowers of this beautiful plant are very similar to Eryngium alpinum. A broad ruff of finely divided blue spikes sits around a tall dome of blue. As the flower ages the ruff, which is soft at first, turns stiff and browns off. Lovely for autumn/winter shape.

Care advice

A hardy perennials, this dies back in autumn and the leaves grow again in spring. Hardy to -10 or more. Like all eryngiums this will take a year or two to establish, but once happy it will thrive with little attention for years.
