This good-looking, neatly ruffled flower has rich yellow standards and white falls that are heavily banded with purple. The purple band is made up of masses of dots that drift into the centre of the falls and is overlaid with pale yellow. The fat beard is mustard.
Bearded irises need to be planted with the rhizome, or root, just above the soil. This is because the rhizome needs to be baked by the sun in order to form flowers. Make sure that there is not too much competition from surrounding plants and remove any weeds.
