Iris 'Paprikash'

(Siberian iris)

Beautiful coloured yet quite delicate, the horizontal falls are almost brick red, a colour that is created by washing maroon over yellow. The pale yellow standards are veined and washed with purple. A very small plant.

Siberian irises are tolerant of a wider range of soils than Bearded irises, but they do prefer a moist soil. However, if the soil drains well during the summer, the trick is to make sure they do not dry out when they are first planted. Very hardy to -10 degrees or more, the leaves die back in autumn and emerge again in spring. Remove old foliage before new leaves start to grow. Does not need frequent division like bearded irises.
