Our native yellow flag iris is often seen in ponds and along streams. It has yellow flowers, carried in clusters, on stiff stems. These arise from a broad clump of dark green leaves that are striped with yellow. The leaves become uniformly green through the summer. Flowers in June.

Can be a bit of a thug, so make sure it has plenty of room if grown in a pond. However I have found it will grow in any type of soil, whether wet, damp or dry.
