Siberian irises are tolerant of a wider range of soils than Bearded irises, but they do prefer a moist soil. However, if the soil drains well during the summer, the trick is to make sure they do not dry out when they are first planted. Very hardy to -10 degrees or more, the leaves die back in autumn and emerge again in spring. Remove old foliage before new leaves start to grow. Does not need frequent division like bearded irises.
