Though we love our Perennials, Irises and Peonies, we know these are useful in the garden too!
Things we like in the home and garden and we thought you might like too
A few things that we find useful in the garden
A bare root plant is a non potted specimen which is sent with it's roots in compost, wrapped in a polythene bag. The plant is of a size reflecting the equivelant pot size that the plant is charged at.
Plants with a small root system or that are generally slower to put on growth than other varieties prefer this smaller pot. Alternatively, we sometimes put fast growing/vigorous plants in this pot size knowing that they will put on sufficient growth to make an impact in their first year and get better the following year. Ideal for those who don’t need to be guaranteed instant impact on planting and want a price to reflect the reward of their patience.
A good size root system and plant which is generally a few weeks growth behind it’s 2 litre relative. A slightly cheaper alternative which when dealing in large numbers can save money, yet still large enough to give an impact.
Ideal for those wanting an instant impression/impact. A larger pot size offering a large root system and larger foliage clump. Popular for those who want it now!
Generally peonies, deep rooted plants or plants that grow to a considerable height or width. The pot allows the plant to put on sufficient growth to ensure a fine specimen prior to planting in your garden.
All plants sent out during winter or dormancy periods are checked for good, healthy, roots and in most cases the plant shows little or no top growth. The pot size generally reflects the amount of fresh growth that will appear in the spring. If you have not bought perennial plants at this time of the year before, please remember that you are buying a good root system and the promise of a good plant emerging in the spring. If you feel the plant hasn’t fulfilled the promise in the spring please write/email us and let us know.
The ‘Delivery Explained’ section should be read in conjunction with and forms part of, our Terms of Business.
We hope to make the delivery information as clear and understandable as possible. Our website will automatically total delivery charges for you and should the charges not be suitable to you we would suggest you do not proceed with your order.
If after reading the information regarding delivery you do not understand how delivery to your area works please contact our office and we will try to explain it to you further.
We reserve the right to change any part, or all, of our delivery areas, prices, delivery information relating to plant combinations, or any other matter that may materially affect delivery at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or cancel delivery availability to any area or address at any time. A change of delivery information on our web site shall constitute notification of change.
In the event that you have placed an order with us and we change all or any part of our delivery terms, pricing, delivery area, plant combination delivery information, or any other matter that may materially affect your delivery change, we shall contact you. We will allow you to either accept the change/s or cancel all or part of your order. We may ask for your instructions in writing which includes email.
In the event of cancellation of all or part of your order we will of course reimburse funds due for the cancelled plant/s and/or good/s together with the delivery charge/s paid by you but shall not be liable to you in connection with any contract, in tort (including negligence), contract or otherwise for any loss of profit, anticipated savings or data that you or your business may suffer.
If you feel it is safe for a delivery to be left at you address, if you are not present, it may be helpful to specify a specific place to leave the package (e.g. Leave in shed. Generally 'leave safe' is not sufficient). By leaving a specific place to leave the package/s you reduce the likelihood of having a card left informing you of attempted delivery or having to arrange re delivery or collection of the parcel.
We can not guarantee a carrier will leave the parcel/s if no one is present or that they will leave the parcel/s in the place specified. We reserve the right to obtain a signature on delivery if we deem it appropriate. A signature service should be expected on delivery to business premises, when the item/s is of high value and/or the order is of large volume.
To calculate your delivery charge we suggest the following method is probably the easiest way (other than entering the order on our website and letting the computer do the work for you!);
Work out the type of plant order you are anticipating making by reviewing the combinations under the 'Type of Plant Order' heading. View the different delivery areas under the 'Delivery Areas' heading and select the delivery area/zone in to which your delivery address is classified.
In the event that you only have one type of plant order the delivery charge should be stated in the delivery area/zone applicable to the delivery address.
If you have more than one type of plant order you will need to add each appropriate charge to give you the total delivery cost for the order.
If you still have problems calculating or understanding the deliveries cost please contact us and we can both be frustrated trying to calculate your delivery charge!
The type of plants we sell and deliver can be broken down in to the following types of orders;
The areas we deliver to are broken down in to different price bandings according to location and the carrier cost to us. The delivery cost to you is stated and includes VAT at the prevailing rate at the time.
We reserve the right to split shipments of some or all plants to ensure that we receive the most cost effective carrier cost to us, which we hope results in a saving to you. This may result in packages arriving at different times or on different days. We obviously, where cost effective, prefer to send the shipment in one package or as one delivery.
If you are unable to find the delivery area under the headings below/our delivery area we can not guarantee delivery is available but please contact us to confirm that we do not deliver to the address to which you want delivery.
