Peony 'Madame Claude Tain'

Paeonia 'Madame Claude Tain'

A frilly, white ball of a flower, with large guard petals and deeply notched inner ones interspersed with yellow petaloids that give the depth of the flower a yellow glow. Opens with feint hints of blush-pink, which fade as the bloom matures. The occasional side bud is present on the slender, reddish stems, along with mid-green foliage. Makes a good cut bloom.

Peonies will grow in most soils as long as they are not wet, including clay soils. They require a sunny or partially shaded site. Herbaceous peonies need to be planted with the eye (the dormant pink buds) no more than 2.5cm below the surface of the soil. Do not mix manure in the soil before planting as this may rot the eyes.
