Peony 'Pastelegance'

The long, thick stems bear a single, large, creamy pale pink flower. Each petal is woven over the next, and as the bloom slowly opens a small centre of yellow stamens is revealed. Although the name of this peony was registered in 1989 it has only just become more available, but only in small numbers which is why it is so expensive. Perfect for cutting.

Peonies will grow in most soils as long as they are not wet, including clay soils. They require a sunny or partially shaded site. Herbaceous peonies need to be planted with the eye (the dormant pink buds) no more than 2.5cm below the surface of the soil. Do not mix manure in the soil before planting as this may rot the eyes.
