Peony 'Requiem'

Opening into a very pale pink, faintly apple-scented bloom, the waxy petals turn almost white with age. Long, slender staminodes, which are red at the bottom and curl at the top, create a central dome that is punctured by the bright pink tips of the soft-green carpels. Strong flower stems carry one or two side buds and dark green leaves. If any unforeseen late-spring frosts happen to catch the blooms, the staminodes will inevitably become blackened. Otherwise, this is a very beautiful peony.
