Peony 'Yvonne'

Paeonia 'Yvonne'
Peony 'Yvonne'
  • A-collectors-peony
A big, mid-pink bloom that opens into a frilly flower with paler tipped, deeply fringed petals interspersed. Yellow stamens are visible amongst the inner petals at first, but later disappear as the flower opens fully. This peony was not registered with the American Peony Society, the international registrars for peonies, but imported into Holland. I am unsure whether the Dutch named it or the breeder's Klehm's named it.

Care advice

Peonies will grow in most soils as long as they are not wet, including clay soils. They require a sunny or partially shaded site. Herbaceous peonies need to be planted with the eye (the dormant pink buds) no more than 2.5cm below the surface of the soil. Do not mix manure in the soil before planting as this may rot the eyes.
