Rheum palmatum tanguticum

(Chinese rhubarb)

Gigantic, deeply divided, rich green leaves, which look just like our edible rhubarb, spring out from a central crown on strong reddish stems. The back of the leaves is also red. A strong, very upright flower stem slowly emerges and travels upwards carrying small cream flowers. A wonderful plant for a moist soil where drama is required.
