Scabiosa drakensbergensis

Scabiosa drakensbergensis
  • Scabiosa-drakensbergensis
Originating from the Drakensberg mountain range in South Africa this rather lanky plant is very attractive and quite surprising. Soft green, round leaves and wandering stems carry scabious-shaped flowers. Having visited this area I know that it can be cool yet dry, therefore this reliably hardy plant does need very well-drained soil. Variable in height, some years it may reach 90cm, in dryer years only 60cm.
