Short and really free-flowering a clump of Intermediate irises will grow from 41cm to 70cm. These come into bloom after Standard Dwarf Bearded irises, around late May and usually finish before Tall Bearded irises start to bloom. These can be far more robust than taller types, which makes them ideal for growing in borders.
