The flowers of Hemerocallis or to use their 'common' name Daylilies are borne at the top of stiff stems that rise from a dense clump of long, arch, slender, mid-green leaves. Each stem produces many, many buds that open one or two at a time each day (hence the name Daylily) for many weeks. These are the most tolerant of all perennials. They will thrive in almost any situation, in soils that are very dry to wet, in a location that is in full sun to partial shade. They need no attention, and once fully established - which may take a few years - they do not need dividiing or staking. For more information about these plants, how to grow them and what to grow with them take a look at our blog on Daylilies
